ICBMs and Delivery Systems
- (ICBM) Inter-Continental Ballistic Missile
- MIRVs (Multiple Independently Targeted Re-entry Vehicles)
- Nuclear submarines
- M.A.D. (Mutually Assured Destruction)
- Pre-emptive Strike
- SAC (Strategic Air Command) planes flying 24 hours a day
Summary:
As the two commanding countries of the world, peacefully coexisted with each other (USSR and USA, they raced/fought in other ways, not relating to war. They both fought to be the first in space and the exploration of it. The space race as it was known was the race between the two countries which gave them both a sense of national security to some extent. This involved such feats as human space flight, and moon landings. Soon after this space race began, the competition to invent and create the best weapons was in full action. Many different attempts were made to prevent the other country from finding out that they are being fired upon. Many different ideas popped to mind such as a submarine that would surface in the between the ice in the arctic and fire from there some ICBMs or ICBMs with multiple war heads attached each going to a different city. All in all the weapons created from this arms race had enough power to destroy each other several times each.
